About Me

This page is about me.

I'm the Fro Man Shevs (5'8") from Cresskill, New Jersey (not Joisee). I go to Dwight-Englewood High School (which I hate) and am mid-way through my sophomore year.
My parents are Dov and Mariola and I got two pets; my cat's name is Miauza (I got her when I was little and thought that "Meow" was spelled "Miau" and then added the first two letters of my name [Zach] to the end) and Jewel (who is a German shepperd born July 21st, 1999). Jewel got lymphoma (a type of cancer) in the beginning of summer 2005 but officially went into remission July 23rd, 2005.
My parents, Dov and Mariola, are both European. My dad is from Russia, although he moved to Poland when he was young. There he attended the same school that my mom would later attend. My dad didn't stay too long in Poland, and then moved to Israel. After serving in the Israeli army, he came to America, and is now President of C.P.S. (Control & Power Systems), an electrical and industrial engineering company. My mom lived in different Polish cities when she was young. She then moved around and spent some time in Italy and Austria before coming to the U.S.
My dad and my mom's brother shared a friend who lived in Europe. When my mom's brother, Jurek, got married, this friend flew in to attend the wedding. My dad offered to drive him to the wedding, where my dad stayed and would meet my mom.
Wait a second, none of this stuff was about me...dammit.
I play piano and drums. I took a few months of violin but after some kindergartener in my group (I took group violin lessons) spent three months attempting to figure out "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," I quit. I've been taking private piano lesson since I was 3ish and drum lessons since I was...I don't know...maybe 8, 9, something like that. I've never been great at piano, but I'm a pretty good drummer. I was a pianist in the 5th grade Opera and in our school's stage band in 9th grade. As for drumming, I was in the school orchestra in 7th and 8th grade, and I'm in Dwight's JazzRock, and have been since 9th grade.
I want to be a writer. I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to follow that because I'm interested in being both a journalist (specifically a movie critic or sports writer) and a screenwriter (for television or movies).
I've been writing my own stories since I've been a little kid. The first memory I have of wanting to write was when I was about six or seven and I sat at my desk pretending to work for the New York Times as the guy who puts together the sports stat sheet. I also remember being young and dictating five stories to my mom and aunt who wrote them and drew a picture. We typed up the stories and printed them with a binding so it looked like a really unofficial book. I'm still embarrased by it, although I have no clue where any of the copies are.
I now am an intern editor in Spectrum, Dwight's newspaper. In the first two issues of Spectrum that I contributed to I wrote ten articles (3 and 7), which is a lot. More than anyone else. I also am in Stage Writing class and have written a one-act play titled "Nothingness and Nonsense" which will be shown some time in April. I write some scripts on my own time.

My favorite to watch and play is Soccer by far but hockey and lacrosse are both great in both forms. I also enjoy watching football, baseball, basketball, and tennis, and I like to play any of these sports when I get a chance but usually I'm limited to tennis and golf. I don't really mind anything else.
TV Shows?:
Scrubs, Family Guy, House, Entourage, Boston Legal, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Rescue Me are my favorites that haven't ended yet (listed in order of preference). Favorites that have ended are Arrested Development, Playmakers, Seinfeld, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Over There, and Everybody Loves Raymond (also in order of preference).
I like a wide variety of stuff. It's too much for this marginy thing so just click the Some of the Songs I listen to.
Video Games?:

I have a PS2, XBOX, and XBOX 360. I like Action/Adventure, RPGs, and Sports games mainly, but I'm terrible at realistic war games and stealth games. My favorite non-sports games of all time are Final Fantasy X, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Kingdom Hearts, Donkey Kong 64, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Final Fantasy: Tactics, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Pokemon Blue and Red, the Other Pokemon Games, and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (in preference order). My favorite sports games are the Tiger Woods games, the pre-2005 NHL games, the Madden NFL games, MVP Baseball 2004/2005, Mario Tennis games, Tony Hawk's Underground (not THUG 2 or THAW), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, SSX Tricky (not the other SSX games), the Mario Kart games (if you think racing is a sport...which I don't), and the FIFA games (not in preference order).
